2000 GMC C3500 Sierra SLE – The GMC Sierra became the “Sierra Classic” to distinguish the old C/K-derived version from the all-new Silverado-based Sierra that arrived in showrooms for 1999. To help bolster stocks of work-oriented pickups until heavy-duty derivatives of the new Sierra can be built, this previous-generation model continues to be offered, albeit now only in 2500 or 3500 series form. Like 1999, changes for 2000 are limited to some mechanical upgrades and a new exterior paint color, Emerald Green. After the all-new Sierra hit the showrooms, it made no sense for further revisions to this stopgap version whose days were numbered. So why bother even considering a brand-new copy of the old model? Simple: It was all a matter of availability and cost. Available as a regular cab, extended cab, four-door crew cab and even as a bare-bones chassis cab in either two- or four-wheel drive, these trucks are both plentiful and competitively priced. Besides, many truck traditionalists actually prefer the Classic’s squared-off look over the new Sierra’s sculpted lines. Despite the design age of the Sierra Classic’s underpinnings, both of its gasoline engines benefited from the very latest Vortec GM technology, which means healthy power and torque ratings. The standard 5700 Vortec V8 makes 255 horsepower, and is a much more satisfying powerplant underfoot than Ford’s new overhead-cam truck engines. For even more power buyers opted for the 7400 V8 (standard on the 2WD 3500HD Chassis Cab) with 290 horses and some 410 pound-feet of torque.
The hottest trucks on the market these days are easily the 1988-1998 GM “OBS” trucks. One of the coolest features of this 3500 series truck is that GM retained the OBS look into 1999 and 2000 for the 3/4 and 1-ton trucks. But that’s definitely not THE coolest feature! What makes this particular 3500 the best on the market is the pristine condition and ONLY 53k MILES! That’s right. This GMC SLE was purchased brand new in Houston and spent it’s entire life as a boat launcher for that same gentleman here on Lake Conroe until we initially acquired it last year with 39k miles. We sold it sold locally but it is now back with us for sale with only 14k more miles. The 2nd owner added a tonneau cover, Sony Touchscreen Stereo, and a back-up camera. This GMC 3500 looks and drives as good as new and you won’t find a nicer one for sale anywhere in the US. The engine bay is immaculate, the interior is spotless, and the original paint is just about perfect. The very tasteful pinstriping by the local legend, Jim Carnifax, still looks brand new. We did a thorough inspection and only found a small ding on the tailgate, some very minor paint imperfections (3 or 4 very small spots), and the sun visors are starting to sag (a $100 fix). You can go spend $70k+ for a 2023 GM truck that is equally capable and clean or you can own a future classic for a fraction of that amount. Features and options include; Vortec 7.4L V8 (454ci), Auto, Ext Cab, Dually (DRW), 2″ Rear End Drop, A/C, Gray Cloth Buckets, Factory Alarm, ABS Brakes, Tekonsha Brake Controller, Rubber Bed Mat, Bug Guard, Center Console Storage, Chrome Bumpers, Chrome Grill, Chrome Westin Nerf Bars, Clearance Lights, Cruise Control, Rubber Floormats, Keyless Entry, Overhead Console, Owners Manual & Window Sticker, Power Steering/Brakes, Power Windows/Locks/Mirrors, Power Driver Seat, Sony Touchscreen AM/FM/XM, Back-up Camera, Diamond-plated Tailgate Protector, Tilt Steering, Tinted Windows, Backflip Tonneau, Tow Package, Tire Tools, Spare Tire, 16″ American Racing Chrome Wheels, and Thick Toyo Open Country 225/75/R16 Tires! Did we mention …” ONLY 53k Miles!”? The first person who sees this truck in person will buy it. Don’t screw around and miss this truck for only $19,900.
