1996 Chevy Impala SS – When the Impala name returned, it once again did so as a concept car. Unveiled at the 1992 Detroit Auto Show, the Impala SS was a murdered-out Caprice with a lowered suspension and an 8.2-liter V-8. The Impala SS went into production for the 1994 model year, effectively a civilian version of the 9C1 police package with a 260-horsepower 5.7-liter V-8. It was heralded by the famous “Lord Vader, your car is ready” ad campaign and remained in production through the 1996 model year. The last year saw minor interior alterations, with the digital speedometer being replaced by an analog one, along with a tachometer. The shifter was moved from the column to the center console, and the engine was given an OBD-II computer control system (the camshaft was reground to adjust for the new computer).

This Impala SS has been in the caretaking of a single family for it’s entire life. The original owner passed and left the vehicle to his wife a few years ago. We were fortunate to acquire this exceptional Chevy from her as well as the original owners manuals and window sticker.  The paint, interior and everything on this Impala SS are 100% original and this beauty has seen under 56k miles of asphalt in the last 26 years. The registration receipts and history report support the miles shown on the odometer.
