Description

1990 GMC R1500 Suburban SLE – The Chevrolet Suburban is a full-size SUV from Chevrolet. The name started in 1934 for the 1935 U.S. model year, making it the longest continuously used automobile nameplate in production. It has traditionally been one of General Motors’ most profitable vehicles. The 1935 first generation Carryall Suburban was one of the first production all-metal bodied station wagons. For model year 1987, the method of fuel delivery for the engines was switched from carburetors to electronic fuel injection. The system that GM chose was called throttle body injection, or TBI. Suburban gained rear-wheel anti-lock braking system (ABS) for the 1990 model year. Starting in 1989, the grille was redesigned to accommodate a quad side-by-side headlight setup and larger marker lights/turn signals than the previous dual filament single headlight setup, which was styled concurrently with the GMT400 light duty trucks. GM temporarily changed the usual “C/K” designation to “R” and “V” for the 1987 through 1991 model years. The Silverado/SLE trim level is the top of the line R/V Suburban trim level. It offers buyers maximum comfort and convenience in a full size sport/utility vehicle.

The SLEs are the top of the line Suburbans available in ’90 and the example is one of the nicest SLEs that can be found in the US. This one owner Suburban is fully loaded, features brand new paint and trims, and has only 58k miles from new! We purchased this Suburban in CA and it has been very well maintained since new. The interior remains in the same excellent condition seen in photos. The CA heat had done some heavy fading on the roof and hood so we completed a full paintjob in the factory Mojave Beige and Sunset Gold Metallic color combo. The side trim was also replaced and we installed a new headliner due to some light sagging. The Suburban now presents in excellent condition cosmetically. Mechanically the GMC drives like new and everything works as it should. We performed a fresh oil change and an A/C service in preparation for resale. The 5.7L V8s in 1990 are rated at 17mpg so you can drive this beauty cross county even if you are on a budget. Features and options include; 5.7L (210 hp), Auto, 2WD, 3rd Row Seat, Front & Rear A/C, Center Console Storage, Chrome Bumpers, Chrome Mirrors, Cruise Control, Rubber Floormats, Overhead Console, Original Owners Manuals, Power Steering & Brakes, Power Windows/Locks/Mirrors, Power Rear Window, Rear Barn Doors, Rear Defrost, Kenwood AM/FM/CD, Tilt Steering, Third Row Seating, Tinted Glass, Tow Package, Woodgrain Interior Trim, Spare Tire w/Cover, Tire Tools, Factory 15″ Rally Wheels, and Thick 235/75/R15 Tires! Hagerty currently values the 1990 Suburban SLE at $12-21k.  We feel that when you factor in the new paint, new trim, single ownership, excellent condition, and low miles … this is an excellent classic to add to any driveway for only $14,900!
