Description

1979 Chevy C10 Cheyenne SWB: An all-new clean sheet redesign of General Motors’ Chevrolet and GMC brand C/K-Series pickups débuted in mid-1972 for the 1973 model year. Development of the new third-generation trucks began in 1968 with vehicle components undergoing simulated testing on computers before the first prototype pickups were even built for real world testing. The redesign was revolutionary in appearance at the time, particularly the cab, departing from typical American pickup truck designs of the era. Aside from being near twins, the Chevrolet and GMC pickups looked like nothing else on the road. The third-generation trucks are colloquially known as the “Square-body” or “Box-body” generation. GM’s official “Rounded-Line” moniker highlighted the pickup’s rounded styling cues that were incorporated into the design. This included rounded windshield corners, rounded corners of the cab roof, rounded-corner doors which cut high into the cab roof eliminating roof height, slanted front fenders, and rounded pickup box corners which allowed for rounded wraparound taillamps, a first for GM pickups. The design also featured strong distinctive curved shoulderlines which rounded out below the beltline. The curved shoulderline continued across the back tailgate on Chevrolet Fleetside and GMC Wideside models. However, the low slope of the hood and rectangular front end of the truck originated the “square/box-body” nickname, which was propagated through truck magazines and word of mouth.

This exceptional C10 is the end result of a recent and very well-executed restoration. Before arriving to Texas in 2018, this short bed spent its entire life in CA. It was purchased new in Stockton and changed hands once to its second owner in Lodi. Even with the passing of 40 years, the truck still retains its original owners manual, warranty information, punch card, and 2 build sheets! With exception of a suspension leveling and a tasteful custom stereo, this Cheyenne has been kept very cosmetically original. Both the engine and transmission are original and the rear end has been upgraded with 3.08 gears from a 1981 Suburban. Upon its arrival to Texas, the bench seat, carpet, and dash were restored to match the factory originals. The GM two-tone Camel and Neutral paint was professionally redone with all panels being removed during paint. All chrome trim was replaced simultaneously. A complete list of options and equipment includes; 350 V8, Auto, A/C, Power Steering & Brakes, Chrome Bumpers, Chrome Mirrors, Spray-in Bedliner, Power Locks (2 Keyless Entry FOBs), Alarm, Kenwood AM/FM/CD/Bluetooth Stereo, Hertz Speakers, Cloth Floormats, Dual Tanks, Tilt Steering, Tinted Glass, Sliding Rear Window, Tire Tools, 15″ Factory Rally Wheels, and Thick 275/60/R15 Tires! Presentation, strong mechanics, documentation, and originality are all the factors you need when investing in a classic vehicle. This beautiful 1979 Chevrolet C10 has all these characteristics yet is still available for less than current Hagerty and NADA values. Don’t let this opportunity pass you buy!
